care campus terbank, leuven

In collaboration with Rosalie Gielis, we made a proposal for a competition organized by ‘MPC Terbank’, in partnership with Open Oproep, to create a new assisted living campus for young residents. The project envisions the campus as a small village with a central square, surrounded by green.
The village consists of five houses, one of which accommodates the shared communal program. All front doors open onto the central square, creating a sense of community and visibility. Each house has a distinct typology, yet all share the same core living space. This shared living space is designed to allow a visual overview for the staff, while still offering residents privacy. Bedrooms are placed along the outer edge of the village. Here, the night corridor functions as an inner street, giving each resident a personal back door and small porch. Along the perimeter, a green boundary defines the site, allowing children to safely access their homes from the back and arriving, for instance, by bike.
