‘Table Jaune’ is a bar installation created for the 2023 ADAF art exposition in Brussels. ADAF is a group exhibition for 105 Belgium-based artists, organized in CityGate. The exhibition space is a large industrial hall with a concrete structure. We were commissioned to design a bar using three marble table tops provided by the exhibition organizers.

We looked for a way to make these heavy marble table tops appear to float in space. To achieve this, we used steel wire to create a structure that allows the bar to hover. The marble surfaces rest atop a central steel spine. Holes drilled through both the marble and the steel framework allow the suspension cables to pass through the structure. A vertical loop system holds the entire piece in balance. Adjustable tension rods built into the cable loops ensure the bar can be finely leveled and securely fixed making ‘Table Jaune’ not only an elegant sculptural element but also a fully functional bar.
