Wissel architectuur studio, in collaboration with Zampone Architectuur, has won the design competition to transform a former car garage into a nursery for 50 children.

The design preserves the garage’s heavy structure while partially removing the roof to create two distinctive patios, with the concrete frames acting as sculptural elements. Within the existing grid, freestanding cabinet volumes and strategically placed glass partitions organise the spaces into a functional nursery.

The competition was launched by the municipality of Schaerbeek in partnership with the bouwmeester maître architecte (BMA).
